Scriptural Context

It is often believed that every believer has a guardian angel (Psalm 91:11; Acts 12:15; Hebrews 1:14), and that angels care for children (Matthew 18:10) and minister to believers when they die (Luke 16:22) among other responsibilities.

  • For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. Psalms 91:11 (ESV)

  • Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.  Hebrews 13:2 (NIV)

  • But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and brought them [the Apostles] Acts 5:19 (ESV)

  • The angel of the Lord camps around those who fear him, and he delivers them. Psalm 34:7 (NIV)

  • My God sent his angel and shut the lions' mouths, and they have not harmed me, because I was found blameless before him; and also before you, O king, I have done no harm. Daniel 6:22 (NIV)

  • Last night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood beside me and said, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul. You must stand trial before Caesar; and God has graciously given you the lives of all who sail with you.’  Acts 27:23-24 (NIV)
