Scriptural Context

All of life is lived in the context of rewards and punishments.  God gives us maximum incentive to seek His Reward (Eternity in Heaven) by describing in graphic detail the (punishment) only other alternative.  Unfortunately, political correctness inside the Church has all but eliminated the preaching of Hell and our fear of its horrors. But Hell is a very real place and an eternal house of horrors.   In the end, each of us makes our own decision on whether we spend our eternity in the darkness of Hell or the light of His Glory.

  • Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Matthew 10:28 (NIV)

  • Then the king said to the attendants, ‘Bind him hand and foot and cast him into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’  Matthew 22:13 (ESV)

  • And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life. Matthew 25:46 (ESV)

  • But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after your body has been killed, has authority to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him. Luke 12: 5 (NIV)

  • And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us. Luke 16:26 (NIV)
