Scriptural Context

When Jesus was asked which Commandment is the greatest, he responded to Love The Lord thy God…and to Love Your Neighbor as yourself. When you do that, you are as concerned over their eternal destination as you are your own.

  • Matthew 22:37-39 (NIV) - Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
  • 1 Peter 3:15 (NLT) - If someone asks about your Christian hope, always be ready to explain it.
  • 2 Corinthians 5:18-20 (NLT) - And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. . . . And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”
  • 2 Corinthians 5:20 (NASB) - Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
