Why Does God Mandate That We Share Our Faith?

Of all the things that God has called us to do, none is stated more emphatically than the sharing of our faith.  In fact, it is His uppermost Purpose for our lives.

In Matthew 28:19, Jesus gives us The Great Commission to go ye into all nations.  More specifically in Acts 1:8, He tells us we are to be witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and in Samaria and to the utter most part of the earth. Note that our first responsibility is to our own community, where we have our most influence.

When asked which Commandment is the greatest, Jesus answered in Matt 22:37-39 to Love the Lord thy God…and the second is like unto it, to love your neighbor as yourself.   When we do that, we are as concerned about where our neighbors will spend eternity as we are for ourselves.

II Corinthians 5:19 tells us that we have been reconciled to God thru Jesus Christ and are, in fact, called to the ministry of reconciliation. In the following verse (v20), we’re called to be Christ’s Ambassadors for communicating His message of love and eternal life.  In Matt 5:13-16, we’re called to be the salt of the earth and light of the world.

So why is God so insistent that we share our faith?  It’s because He wired us and He knows.   It’s the continual sharing of our faith that will keep us on our knee’s and in His Word and in the center of His Will.
